How to Convert Wii Homebrew Applications to Channels

Navigate to the Wii Brew website and click on "Download" to save the Customize Mii software to your computer. Extract the download and double-click on the setup file to install Customize Mii to your computer. Click "Next" when prompted and choose a directory to install to. Afterward, search and download a WAD Manager for the Wii and an FTP software for the Wii and the computer if you want to send the custom channel to your Wii wirelessly.

Open Customize Mii by double-clicking the program icon. Click on "Browse" to find a source WAD file on your computer. You can also download source WADs from the Internet using the Customize Mii software. Click on the specific source WAD from the list of "Created/Edited" channels and click the "Load" or "Save" button to download the specific WAD and save it to your computer. The source WAD files are edited and replaced with your specific .dol file for your homebrew application, a new title, sound and other edited features.

Select another WAD file from the "Created/Edited" list and click the "Load" button to use the specific WAD design for your source WAD.

Select "Icon" and "Sound" from the drop-down box at the bottom of the program to select source WADs if you would like to use them for your customized sounds or icons.

Select the "Title" tab and enter a title for your custom channel. You may also enter the channel in different languages if applicable in the specified boxes.

Click the "Options" tab and select the ".DOL" file of the homebrew application you would to use. You may also use a forwarder channel wad for the specific homebrew application. Select a new sound from the "Sound" box if you would like to apply a different sound clip. Ensure the sound clip you want to use is small, under 1 MB, otherwise it will crash the Wii.

Edit other functions of the channel such as "Layout," "Animation," "Banner" and "Icon" only if you are a professional and understand "brlyt/brlan" coding. Otherwise you can brick your Wii console.

Click "Send WAD" to create and send WAD file directly to your Wii if you have an FTP program enabled between your Wii and computer. See instructions with the FTP program if applicable. If not, click "Create WAD" to create the WAD file and save it to your computer.

Load the custom channel onto removable media, such as a formatted USB drive or formatted SD card. Format your SD card or USB drive as "FAT32" by right-clicking on your SD card and choosing "Format." Create a directory named "WADS" on your SD card and transfer the custom WAD file to your SD card.

Insert the SD card into your Wii. Use a WAD Manager program in the homebrew channel to install the custom WAD channel onto the Wii menu.
