Attach the nunchuck to the Wii remote.
Examine Amaterasu's life suns and Ink Bottles in the upper-left corner of the screen. Each sun represents a piece of health and the total number of suns can be upgraded. The Ink Bottles allow you to use Celestial Brush techniques, your character's main special ability in the game.
Examine Amaterasu's Praise by looking at the glowing Japanese character on the right of the screen. Praise is earned by accomplishing tasks in the game and can be used to purchase upgrades.
Move Amaterasu by tilting the control stick on the nunchuck. Tilting slightly will cause your character to walk and tilting completely will cause the character to run. A dash is performed by shaking the Wii remote.
Jump by pressing the "A" button. Jump while touching a wall in mid-air to perform a wall jump.
Look around by pressing the directional pad on the Wii remote. The camera will spin around your character allowing for a 360-degree view.
Slash with the Wii remote to perform an attack. Slash repeatedly to attack multiple times and trigger a combo.
Interact with people and objects using the "Z" button on the nunchuck. The "Z" button also uses the equipped secondary weapon in battle.
Open the Celestial Brush Canvas by pressing and holding the "B" button on the Wii remote. Press and hold the "A" button on the Wii remote to paint on the canvas. Each painting consumes one Ink Pot. Drawing specific symbols will use abilities in battle and solve puzzles in dungeons.
Equip the Devout Beads as your primary weapon and the Divine Retribution Mirror as your secondary weapon. This will allow you to defend yourself with the mirror and counter-attack if timed correctly.
Talk to other characters in the game to learn valuable information about what to do next or how to solve tougher puzzles.
Dig by pressing the "C" button on the nunchuck. This can uncover secrets, solve certain puzzles and locate hidden stashes of Demon Fangs, the game's currency.
