How to Use a GC Controller on the Wii

The Nintendo Wii is backward-compatible with the Nintendo GameCube in more ways than one. In addition to playing GameCube games on your Wii, you can also use the older GameCube controllers with the newer Nintendo system. You just have to plug your older controller into the newer system in a specific way. You can only use your GameCube controller to play GameCube games, not newer Wii games.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your Nintendo Wii around so that you can see the back panel.

    • 2

Open the GameCube controller port door on the back panel of your Nintendo Wii.

    • 3

Plug your GameCube controller's cable into the "Player 1" controller input on your Wii.
