How to Troubleshoot the Wii Motion Sensor

The sensor bar is a key component of the Nintendo Wii. This device sits on top of your television or entertainment center and receives signals from the Wii remote, allowing the pioneering motion technology to detect player movements. If you have trouble with your sensor bar you can use a series of troubleshooting steps to help correct the situation.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the sensor bar plug to make sure it is inserted into the appropriate slot on the back of the Wii and that is has not come loose.

    • 2

Place the sensor bar at the front of the TV or entertainment center top if it has shifted. It is important that you put the bar as close to the front as possible so that the path between the sensor bar and Wii remote is not obscured.

    • 3

Center the sensor bar on your entertainment center or TV. If you encounter inaccurate Wii remote controls this could be the culprit if the sensor bar is off center.
