How to Use a Wii Controller on a PC

Nintendo's Wiimote is a powerful piece of technology with Bluetooth ability. Bluetooth capability allows your Wiimote to communicate with your computer. Connecting the Wiimote to your PC will allow it to act as a mouse or even a joystick to play video games on your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure your computer is set up for Bluetooth. If your computer doesn't have it, you will need to buy a Bluetooth card.

    • 2

Put the Wiimote into discovery mode. To do this, press the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time. The blue light at the bottom of the Wiimote should flash. You might have to push the buttons multiple times until the Wiimote connects with the PC.

    • 3

Click on the Bluetooth icon on your PC and choose "Show Bluetooth Devices." If you do not have a Bluetooth icon, go to the Control Panel and choose Bluetooth Devices. Click "Add" when the window pops up.

    • 4

Choose "My device is set up and ready to be found." Click next. Be sure that the lights are still flashing on the Wiimote. The PC should find the Wiimote.

    • 5

Hit next. Select the option "Don't use a passkey," and hit next again. Make sure the lights on the Wiimote still flash. Click finish.

    • 6

Download GlovePIE (see Resources). This program allows you to use the Wiimote with a PC. Extract the zip file and run the program.

    • 7

Click File then Open in GlovePIE. Go to WiimoteScripts and find NESController.pie. Click run.
