How to Hook the Wii Up to the Internet

The Wii video game system uses the Internet in several ways. Players can download game and system updates from the Internet and even play against online opponents. News and weather channels come pre-installed and players can download other channels to view movie trailers, game demos and even sports. Users can surf the Internet, and download classics from the older Nintendo systems. Hooking up to the Internet is a straightforward process and can be done in a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the bottom-left of main desktop screen for an icon that says "Wii." Move the cursor over the "Wii" icon and select it. On the next screen, highlight and select the right-hand box that says "Wii Settings."

    • 2

Click the arrow on the right side of the screen to scroll through the list. Select the "Internet" option and a new list of options will appear. Look for the "Connection Settings" option and select it.

    • 3

Click on the "Connection 3: None" button to select an open connection. This will allow the Wii to search for any open networks within your vicinity. Click on the "Wireless Connection" option.

    • 4

Click on the "Search for an Access Point" button to search for an available Internet connection. The system will then display the available connections and you can select any one of them to run a connection test.
