I Can't Update Wii Via the Internet

The Nintendo Wii is a family video game console originally released in 2006. Like the other consoles of its generation, it has the ability to update its software on a periodic basis. If you have just set up your Wii and need to update it, it can be troubling when the update will not download. There are a few factors that can cause this to happen.

      Wait a few hours. The servers may be down for maintenance and will go back up soon.

      Remove any objects that could interfere with your signal, such as a cell phone or metallic items.

      Alter the Wii's DNS settings. In "Connection Settings," select your connection and then "Change Settings." Pick "No" for "Auto-Obtain DNS." Change the first DNS setting to 8.8.8.8 and the second to 8.8.4.4.
