Remove the SD card from your Wii and insert it into a computer card reader. From your computer, navigate to the SD card's root directory.
Create a new folder on the root directory labeled "Wads." If there is one there already, leave it intact.
Double-click on the "Apps" folder. Create a new folder and label it "Wad Manager."
Download the "Wii Wad Manager." Multiple websites host the application, but official updates are found at QJ's website. Save the ZIP file to your desktop.
Extract the "Boot.dol" file from the zip and import it into the new "Wad Manager" folder you created on the SD card.
Download the IOS53 file from Wii Hacks. The file is usually packaged with IOS38 and IOS55.
Export the IOS53 wad file from the ZIP file and into the "Wads" folder on the root of the SD card.
Remove the SD card from the computer and insert it into the Wii. Power on the Wii and load the "Homebrew Channel."
Select the "Wii Wad Manager" from the list of applications. Point towards the "Load" icon and press "A" on the Wii remote.
Select the "SD Card" from the list of loading options. Wait for the list of wad files to load.
Locate the IOS53 file and press "A." Confirm the installation with "A" again and wait for the installation to complete. Once complete, press the "Home" icon on the Wii remote and the console will automatically restart.
