Confirm your SD or SDHC card is compatible for Wii use at the Wii Brew website. Scroll down on the page to find your SD card.

    • 2

Insert your SD or SDHC card into your computer and go to "My Computer." Right-click on the SD or SDHC card and select "Format." Choose "FAT32" and "Quick Format." Click "OK" to format your SD card. The card is now readable by the Nintendo Wii for use with homebrew software.

    • 3

Navigate to the Wii Brew website and click on "Download" to save the VBA GX emulator to your computer. Copy the Visual Boy Advance application folder to the "Apps" directory on your SD or SDHC card. Copy the directory "vga gx" to the root of your SD card. The vga gx directory contains the ROMS and Saves folder for the Visual Boy Advance emulator.

    • 4

Download ROMS for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance at ROM websites online. Once you find a ROM you would like, click on it to download. Usually ROMS are in a .zip or .rar format. You need to download a program to extract your .rar files from the Internet. Windows can usually open .zip files without the need of additional software. In the event you do need a program to extract .zip files, you can find it online. Extract your games to a directory on your computer.

    • 5

Copy your games to the ROMS folder in the vgbx directory on the root of your SD card. All of the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games are compatible and will play with the VGBX emulator.

    • 6

Eject the SD card from your computer and insert it into the SD slot on your Wii. Turn on your Wii and launch the Homebrew Channel from the Wii main menu by clicking on it and pressing "Start." The Homebrew Channel will recognize applications and games on your SD card.

    • 7

Browse until you find the VBA GX emulator. Click on it and press "Load" to start the Visual Boy Advance emulator.

    • 8

Press "A" on the GameCube controller or "2" on the Wii remote to launch a game. The games will automatically load into the main display screen of the emulator. You can change other settings in the emulator such as sound, save locations and controller settings. You may access these settings by clicking on the corresponding buttons.
