How to Find Out Wii Chip Set Information

The Nintendo Wii, like all game consoles, comes with varied hardware according to the date it was manufactured. As the console ages, the video game company will constantly upgrade the internal hardware, most notably the chip set, which is the collection of chips the console uses to process graphics. Finding the chip set version of your Wii requires only a serial number and an Internet connection.

Instructions

The Wii's bar code will be right over the serial number.

Look on the bottom of your Nintendo Wii and find the serial number. This number is 13 characters long with three letters and 10 digits. The last digit will be in a box. The serial number can be found underneath the bar code.

You'll need to head to Nintendo Scene to check your chip set.

Go online to Nintendo-Scene Wiitracker Search into the address bar. This is a database of all the different Wii chip sets correlating to the different serial numbers. There are other sites you can go to for checking your chip set, but the Nintendo Scene site is the easiest to use.
