How to Get a Three Star Ranking on All Cups in Mario Kart for Wii

"Mario Kart Wii" is the most recent Mario Kart released on the Nintendo platform. You race through eight different cups, some of which you need to unlock before you can achieve the highest rankings. The rankings range from the worst, E, to the best, three stars. It is extremely challenging to get three stars and takes a lot of practice, but once you know all of the tricks, it becomes less difficult.

Instructions

    • 1

Unlock all of the races. This is necessary to get three stars on all of the cups. Make sure that you practice on all of the courses, individually and as Grand Prix's. Practice using the time trial as well. If you have a wireless connection, practice online against other players as well.

    • 2

Find a character and kart or bike that you feel you do the best with. Experiment with the different characters and see which you play better--your friends will have different preferences than you. Do not keep switching or you will not be used to the kart you are driving.

    • 3

Choose a bike rather than a kart. Use the speed boost on straight tracks by pulling the Wii mote towards you sharply. Choose a bike that has a high speed, even if it takes a long time to accelerate.

    • 4

Use a turbo start. When you are hit by a shell or slip on a banana, hold down on the brake at the same time as the acceleration for a few seconds until you see blue sparks. Release the brake and you will have a turbo boost.

    • 5

Do as many tricks as you can. Whenever you go over a jump, shake your Wii mote. If you are using a bike, do a wheelie whenever you are on a straight road.

    • 6

Avoid shells by keeping your items behind you. When you hit a question mark, rather than letting the item go, keep it. You have to hold down on the fire button to keep single bananas, red shells and green shells. Place fake question marks around the course, but make sure you remember where you put them.

    • 7

Try using the nun-chuck. If you use the Wii wheel, you can easily go off track. Plug in the nun-chuck to use it for steering, and the Wii mote for accelerating. This will give you much more control when steering.

    • 8

Use turbo. When you start the race, hold down on the acceleration button. When the two on the counter starts to disappear, hold down on the accelerator and you will shoot off. Make sure you do not hit the acceleration too early or you will spin out. If you fall off the track, hit the accelerator as soon as you land and you will shoot off.
