My Wii Is Not Working After a Power Outage

Power outages are frustrating enough, but can be downright infuriating if they occur when you are in the middle of a game and cause you to lose your progress. If your Nintendo Wii and its peripherals will not turn back on after you experience a power outage you can do some troubleshooting to get them to work properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Check your circuit breakers. An outage can sometimes cause them to flip off. The outlet to which your Wii is connected may not be getting any power. Even if no breakers are flipped off you can try flipping the correct breaker off and back on.

    • 2

Disconnect the AC adapter from the wall outlet and take the plug out of the back of the console. Wait a couple of minutes and then plug the cord back into the outlet and the Wii. Turn the console on.

    • 3

After you get the Wii to turn on, synchronize the Wii remote with the console. Open the battery compartment of the controller and press the red sync button inside of it. The LED lights on the front of the remote will flash. Open the SD card slot on the Wii and press the red sync button. The lights on the remote will stop flashing and settle on a controller position (this should be controller one if no other remotes are turned on.)
