How to Update a Wii Using WiFi

The Nintendo Wii console comes standard with Wi-Fi technology and online video game play through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Nintendo also offers the WiiConnect24 service which allows Wii console owners to keep their Wii connected to Nintendo for updates and software patches virtually as soon as they're available.

Instructions

Press the "Power" button on the front of your Wii console. Select the "Wii" icon at the bottom of the screen. Select "Wii Settings" from the options on the screen.

Click the blue arrow on the right side of the screen to go to page two of the Wii Settings. Select "WiiConnect24" from the list of options.

    • 3

Select "On" to enable WiiConnect24 and allow the system to update automatically whenever Nintendo has a new update available. Select the "Confirm" button at the bottom of the screen. Select the "Back" button to return to the previous menu. If there are any updates, your Wii will begin the update process automatically.
