How to Play on the Wii Against Family in Another State

The Wii console was released by Nintendo in November of 2006. The system came with built in wi-fi technology and wireless remote controls. With the rising interest in virtual gaming with friends and family members around the world, Nintendo's Wii console includes free access to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. This service allows players to connect with others on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. Connecting to your friends and family does not require any advanced networking skills.

Instructions

      Press the "Power" button on your Nintendo Wii and turn your television set on. Make sure that your Wii is connected to the Internet. Click the "Wii Message Board" from the Wii menu. Click "Create a message" and then click "Address Book" on the screen.

      Click to the first page of your Wii address book. Write your 16-digit Wii console number that's displayed on the screen. You will need to give this to your family member and anyone else you'd like to connect with on your Wii.

      Select the "Register Friend" option from the Address Book screen. Select "Wii" to add your family member's Wii console to your friend's list. Enter the 16-digit Wii number when prompted to do so. You will have to give your family member your Wii number as well.

      Click "OK" to save the settings. Insert the game that you want to play online with your family member. Your family member must have the same game inserted into his Wii console.

      Select "Global Play" in the game settings to play the game online with your family member.
