How to Repair My Wii Disc

Wii game discs can become damaged by accumulating dirt, grease, or even cigarette smoke. With the average price of a Wii disc being $50.00 and up, it can be worth trying some simple household items to repair your Wii disc. Some Wii discs simply need a good cleaning, while others may have scratches that prevent them from working properly. The Nintendo Customer Service website states that harsh solvents should never be used to try and repair a Wii game disc.

Instructions

  1. Cleaning a Wii Disc with Water

    • 1

Dip a clean soft cotton towel into plain water to wet the towel. Wring out the excess water.

    • 2

Clean the Wii disc by applying the damp towel to the center of the disc and moving the towel in a straight line out to the edge of the disc. Continue to clean the disc from the center out, around the entire disc.

    • 3

Use the dry part of the towel and dry the Wii disc by again starting at the center of the disc, and working out in a straight line to the edge of the disc.

    • 4

Allow the disc to air dry for at least two minutes before inserting it into the Wii console.

Repairing a Wii Disc with Gel Toothpaste

    • 5

Use a clean soft towel to apply a small amount of gel toothpaste to the Wii disc. Start at the center of the disc and work in a straight line to the edge. Continue to spread the gel toothpaste around the entire disc.

    • 6

Hold the Wii disc up to a light source to see if the toothpaste has filled in all of the scratches. Use the towel to gently remove any excess toothpaste.

    • 7

Clean and dry the Wii disc with a clean soft cotton towel and water as outlined in steps one through four.
