How to Remove the Battery From a Wii System

Electronics have certain data that needs to be stored, even when the power has been turned off. Devices that use these types of batteries, which can last for up to 10 years, include computers and most major gaming consoles including the Nintendo Wii. The internal battery of the Wii is responsible for keeping the date and time current when it is unplugged from a power outlet. Occasionally these batteries can fail and need to be replaced.
