Change the batteries. Turn over your Wii remote and unlatch the battery cover. Replace the batteries with two new AA batteries. Leave off the battery cover.
Turn on your Wii and Wii remote. Press the red "Sync" button on the back of the Wii remote, beneath the battery compartment. Open the front door on the console. Press the red "Sync" button. Your should see a blue square light up and stay lit on the front of your controller. If your controller still does not work correctly, you'll have to reconfigure the sensor bar.
Move everything out of the way of the sensor bar. Move the sensor bar to the top of your TV if you previously had it sitting at the bottom. Move it to the bottom if you previously had it sitting at the top. Click "Wii Settings" on the main Wii menu and click the blue arrow. Select "Sensor bar" and choose "Sensor bar position." Select whether your sensor bar is above or below your TV.
Click "Confirm." Click "Sensitivity." Point the Wii remote at the sensor bar. If you don't see two white dots in the sensitivity box, click the plus or minus icon until you do.
Call Nintendo's troubleshooting number at (800) 255-3700 if you still cannot get your Wii controller to work correctly. You may have a faulty controller or sensor bar.
