Wii Connector Types

Nintendo introduced the Wii game system in 2006. Wii was the first game system that allowed gamers to become more a part of the video games they play using interactive controls. The system's revolutionary features such as wireless motion-sensitive remote controllers and Wi-Fi capability made the Wii the world's best-selling console game system. Wii can be connected to an LCD television or broadband Internet to play interactive games.
  1. USB Plug

    • The most common connector is a simple USB plug. These connectors convert the USB port into an Internet jack and to high-speed wired Internet without the use of installation software. The secure, stable connection utilizes a Web browser and is compatible with other online Wii features.

    Wii LAN Adapter

    • A Wii LAN adapter, whether Nintendo's adapter or a third-party's, can be used as a connector to create a wired high-speed Internet connection. The adapter is plugged into the Wii and connected to the cable modem, a router or to DSL with the use of a network patch cable. This connection is helpful in areas where it is not possible to get a wireless Internet connection.

    AV Composite and S-Video Cable

    • An audio/video cable provides either composite or S-video and audio output for viewing on television screens. One end of the cable, the dock connector, plugs directly into the Wii console. On the other end, you will find the AV cables that connect the console to the output device, such as a television.

    VGA Converter Connector

    • A VGA converter connector wires Wii or another component source to a VGA input such as a projector or LCD television. It converts the analog component video signal to the input. On some models, the connector automatically adjusts the output signal to fit HDTV resulting in a clear, undistorted game image.
