Wii Compatible Flash Players

The Nintendo Wii not only plays its own games but also allows access to flash games through its downloadable Wii Internet Channel. The channel has its own flash player, which means a player can take on online games and watch other Internet videos if he needs a break from swinging a Wii-motes around.

Flash 8 and Under
- Wii's Internet Channel is compatible with any Flash Player up to version 8. Every previous version is compatible with Wii browser software while any player beyond 8 can't be downloaded by the system.
Downloading Update
- An update of the Wii Internet Channel comes through the Wii Shop Channel. Click on the "Start Shopping" option and then "Wii Channels." Scroll down to the "Internet Channel." At the lower left of the next screen is the option to download the browser update. A compatible flash player is included in the update.
Flash Players Over 8
- Flash Player 9 was released just before the Wii Internet Channel, so there was not sufficient time to remake the browser program to make it compatible with the Wii's software. As of November 2010, there were no indications that Nintendo planned to remake the Internet Channel to be compatible with flash players after 8.
