How to Port Trigger a Linksys With Wii

You use port triggering if you are having trouble having a device consistently stay connected to the Internet. You can also use it if you are experiencing NAT issues or if you have many devices that need to connect to a certain port on your router. Port triggering creates a sort of "on and off" switch for your ports, giving you a bit more security. If you are having issues with your Nintendo Wii staying connected, you may need to trigger your ports.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a web browser and access your router's settings page by entering "192.168.1.1" into the address bar. This is the Linksys default IP address.

    • 2

Input your username and password in the prompt. The default username is "admin," while the default password is also "admin."

    • 3

Click "Applications &Gaming" on the top bar of the window.

    • 4

      Click "Port Range Triggering."

    • 5

Type "Nintendo Wii" into the Application Name column at least six times, as we have six ports to trigger.

    • 6

Input the number "28910" into each box in the row. You will then have rows that will say "28910 to 28910."

    • 7

      Repeat Step 6 with the numbers "29900," "29901," "29920," "80" and "443."

    • 8

Check "Enable" on each row where you have input data.

    • 9

Click "Save Settings" at the bottom of the page once completed.

    • 10

Click "Continue" on the next screen when prompted.
