How to Record Wii Games

Video sharing is becoming increasingly common in the gaming world, with many Wii players recording their games to later post on the internet. Some may simply want to share a high-scoring or otherwise well-played game. Others may want to submit a gaming performance to a competitive gaming site for prizes. No matter what the reason, recording a game can be done in just a few steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Wii gaming system
  • TV
  • DVD recorder
  • Blank DVD
  • Composite cables (included with Wii)
  • Video distribution amplifier

Instructions

    • 1

      Plug in the video distribution amplifier to an electric wall outlet. This device lets image appear on multiple screens. Be sure to plug it in to a location close enough to the TV for it to later be connected to the TV with your cables.

      Plug the white, yellow, and red ends of the composite cable into the input ports of the video distribution device. Match the cable end colors with the colors of the ports on the device and turn on the video distribution device.

      Plug the red, yellow and white portions of the composite cable on the remaining end into the ports of matching colors on the DVD player and turn on the DVD player.

      Press the "Source" button on the DVD player until it is set to record the ports that the video distribution amplifier is plugged into. The sources are typically labels "EXT" and then a number on both the ports and the screen of the TV that the DVD player is plugged into.

      Insert a blank DVD into the DVD recorder and press the "Record" button.

      Play your Wii as you normally would. The game will now record to the DVD in the DVD recorder.
