Wii Compatible Keyboards

When Nintendo's fifth gaming console, the Wii, first debuted in 2006, its internet functionality was greatly limited, partly because of a failure of the USB port to communicate with keyboards. System patches -- specifically the Wii Menu 3.1 (and higher) -- have allowed most USB keyboards to function with the Wii console. Logitech and Microsoft keyboards in particular have been found to fully function with the Wii console.
  1. Logitech Keyboards

    • Logitech offers wireless USB keyboards with Wii functionality. Most notably, the Logitech Wii Cordless keyboard comes specifically designed for the Wii console. It includes "Zoom in" and "Zoom out" buttons and even matches the color scheme of the system. As well, the Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110 functions with the console; however, the included mouse will not. Both keyboards can be purchased online for less than $20.

    Microsoft Keyboards

    • While not specifically tailored to the Wii, Microsoft keyboards have also been found to function well with the system. Microsoft's Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v2 offers a cordless alternative for those who prefer Microsoft products. Once again, the accompanying mouse is not functional on the console. However, the online price can be double that of the Logitech boards.

    Other Keyboards

    • Wii Menu 3.1 allows the Wii console to function with almost any USB keyboard on the market. Specifically, tested keyboards include AGK 100-50, PC Line PCL-K350, Gyration GP9110 and Innovera Wireless Keyboard and Mouse.
