TV Requirements
The Wii can be connected to just about any TV set that has standard RCA inputs. The Wii comes with a special AV cable that connects to the console; Nintendo indicates that consumers should not attempt to use a different AV cable to make the connection. If you have an older TV, check to make sure it has these standard RCA inputs before purchasing a Wii. In addition, you need to place a sensor bar either above or below the TV set for wireless connectivity to game controllers.
Space Requirements
It is important that you have adequate space in front of your TV for movement. Nintendo recommends to have between 3 and 10 feet of space in front of your TV for gameplay.
Internet Requirements
An Internet connection is desirable but not necessary to operate the Wii. The Wii can connect to the Internet through a broadband connection, a modem or mobile hotspot, or a router with wireless ability. The Wii can connect through a LAN as well using a LAN adapter (which is sold separately). Users can connect through DSL, cable or fiber optic. See Resources for instructions on connecting to the Internet.
