How to Turn the Volume Down on Wii Controllers

The Nintendo Wii remote contains a built-in speaker capable of outputting sound effects and music through the controller. Games ranging from "Super Mario Galaxy 2" to "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" take advantage of the internal speaker for gameplay elements and additional audio effects. The sound adjustments are made on the Wii settings menu. Each Wii remote must be individually configured for volume.

      Press the "HOME" button on the Wii remote.

      Highlight "Wii Remote Settings" from the "HOME" menu and press the "A" button on the Wii remote.

      Highlight the "plus" and "minus" buttons on the "Wii Remote Settings" screen and press the "A" button to increase and decrease the remote volume. Each time you press the "A" button, a sound will emanate from the internal speaker to preview the volume setting.

      Highlight "Close Wii Remote Settings" to exit the menu and confirm your settings.
