How to Make an SDHC Compatible With a Wii

A Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) card is capable of storing a large amount of data, including applications, games and other types of multimedia. Prior to 2009, the Nintendo Wii only allowed standard SD cards to store saved games and data, with a maximum capacity of 2GB. However, thanks to recent Wii system upgrades, you can now make an SDHC card fully compatible with a Wii console.

Click the right arrow to browse to the third page of the Wii settings menu. Press "Wii System Update, followed by "Yes" when asked "Connect to the Internet and Perform a Wii System Update?" Restart your Nintendo Wii console once the update has finished installing on the system. After this installation, your Wii console will be SDHC compliant, effectively supporting up to 32GB of memory storage. Next to the "Wii Options" menu, you can now view all data stored in your SDHC card by clicking a newly implemented "SD" option.
