How to Homebrew Gecko SD Card

There may be times when you would like to play your favorite Wii games with cheats or codes enabled. Doing this lets you have extra added fun with game hacks that you wouldn't normally have in the stock version of the game. Using Gecko OS through the Homebrew Channel on your Wii will enable you to use these hacked game codes.

Things You'll Need

  • Nintendo Wii modified with Homebrew Channel
  • Computer
  • SD card
  • Gecko OS software
  • Wii codes (Wiird)

Instructions

  1. Acquire files

    • 1

      Navigate to WiiBrew (see Resources) and click on "Download" under links. After downloading, extract Gecko OS by opening the archive and selecting the files. Drag and drop the selected files to a new folder named "Gecko OS". Leave the Ocarina Code Manager on your computer.

      Insert your SD card into your computer. Open the SD card window. If you do not have an "Apps" folder, create a new folder named "Apps". Drag and drop the Gecko OS folder to your "Apps" location.

      Install the Ocarina Code Manager on your computer and open the program. Go to "File" and "Open TXT file". Choose your game, and click "Download". You will download a text file that you store on your computer. Once the game codes are loaded for your game, you can enable the options you like by selecting the corresponding box.

      Click on "Export to GCT". A window will open with a message asking where to save your file. Select the "SD card" to save to.

      Remove the SD card from your computer. Insert it into your Wii. Go into the Homebrew Channel and start Ocarina. Put your Wii game into the Wii and press "A" to start playing.
