How to Download to a Wii SD Card

In addition to playing traditional video games on discs, the Nintendo Wii console can also play games downloaded from the Internet. These games, which range from newly developed games to ports of classic Nintendo titles, can be downloaded directly to the Nintendo Wii's internal memory. The Wii's memory space is limited, however, and so many gamers choose to download games to a SD card instead. Wii channels can also be downloaded in the same manner.

Instructions

  Insert a SD card into the SD slot on the front of the Nintendo Wii.

  Open the "Wii Shop Channel" from the Nintendo Wii's main menu. This will display a list of the games and Wii channels available to download.

  Press the "A" button while highlighting the name of a game or Wii channel that you want to download. A screen will pop up with more information about the particular game or channel.

  Press "Download." This option will be named "Redownload" if you have previously downloaded this particular piece of software.

  Select "Yes" to confirm that you want to download the software.

  Choose "SD Card" to download the game or Wii channel directly to the SD card.
