How to Play NES Roms on the Wii

One of the more popular features on the Nintendo Wii is the built-in emulator, which is a program that allows the Wii to play classic NES games. These game files are called Roms, and are easily downloaded onto the Wii. The library of NES games available for the Wii is growing every day with no end in sight.

Instructions

      Connect the Wii to the Internet if it is not already connected, following the instructions that came with the console. There are different steps for a wired and wireless connection, be sure to follow the right one.

      Select "Wii Shop Channel" from the main menu, then click "Start."

      Click "Add Wii Points" and either purchase them with a credit card or redeem a Nintendo Points Card. They can be purchased in 1000-point increments for $10.00 each. Each NES game costs 500 points.

      Return to the Shop Channel after purchasing Wii Points and click "Virtual Console."

      Search for games by title or genre, or browse through new and popular titles.

      Select a game you wish to purchase and click "Download."

      Wait a minute or two for the game to download.

      Return to the main menu and select the game to play it.
