My Wii Machine Won't Turn Off

When a game has frozen on your Wii, the remote may not work properly. If the game console itself is not responding, it too may have become frozen. This will happen when there is a software conflict with the console. To correct this issue, you will need force the Wii to restart You should also install any updates that are currently available for the console.

Instructions

Restart Wii Console

  Press the "Power" button on the front of the Wii and hold it for at least 10 seconds. This should power down the Wii.

  Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet if the Wii does not shut down when the power button has been pressed.

  Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet after waiting for at least a minute.

  Press the "Power" button to turn the console back on.
Get Software Update

  Move the cursor on the screen over the "Wii" button by using the remote. Press button "A" to access the Wii Menu. Select the "Wii Settings" option and press "A" to go to the System Settings.

  Highlight the blue colored arrow and click it twice. This will take you to the menu option for "Wii System Settings 3."

  Highlight "Wii System Update" and press "A." Click the cursor on "Yes."

  Click the cursor on "I Accept" to begin the update process. The update will download and install on the console automatically.
