How to Update Wiikey 2

The Nintendo Wii has a large game library, an Internet browser and the ability to receive weather and news reports. Although it has many features, you can extend its capabilities even further with a Wiikey device. The Wiikey 2 lets users play games from other regions, such as Europe and Japan, and allows the play of homebrew, or user-created, games. Updating the Wiikey 2's firmware to the latest version fixes known issues with the device. You can download the update from the Wiikey website and then burn it to any blank CD or DVD.

  Go to the Wiikey website. Click the "Downloads" tab and then "Members." Create a new Wiikey user account or log in if you already have one.

  Click "Wiikey 2" and then "USA." Click "Get this file" to download the newest firmware update. As of September 2010, this update is version 1.3 "Odyssey." Agree to the terms and conditions and then click "Download."

  Insert a CD or DVD into the computer. Burn the update to the disc using any desired burning software.

  Place the disc into the Nintendo Wii. Follow any on-screen prompts that appear to apply the update.
