What is SSID?
SSID stands for Service Set Identifier. It is the public name for your wireless network. This name is configured when your wireless router is initially set up. The SSID distinguishes your wireless network from any other wireless network within range. SSID names could be any combination of alphanumeric characters up to 32 characters long. Examples could be personal identifiers such as: "FredsNetwork", "MYWIRELESS" or "HOMEWIFI" or one of many default names that come pre-installed on routers: "linksys", "dlink-####" or "Default SSID"
Accessing Wii Internet Settings
Access your Wii's Internet settings through the home screen on the Wii console.
Press the Home key on your Wii remote (the small blue "house" button). Click on the Wii button in the lower left corner of the screen. Choose Wii Settings. Navigate to "page 2" of the Wii System Settings menu using the arrow on the right-hand side.
Click on "Internet."
Configuring Your Wireless Connection
Choose "Connection 1: None" or if Connection 1 is not empty, click it and choose "Clear Settings." Click "Wireless Connection." Click "Search for an Access Point" to bring up a list of SSIDs within range of the console. Choose your SSID or wireless network and click "OK."
If your wireless network requires a security key, you will be prompted for this now. The Wii Console will perform a connection test by attempting to connect to the wireless network and then to a Nintendo Internet server. When the connection is successful, your Nintendo Wii console is ready to go online.
