How to Interface a Wii to My PC

The Nintendo Wii, much like the sixth generation home gaming consoles that came before it, makes use of RCA cables to interface with any television. This comes in handy when you want your Wii to interface with a computer, since many computers featuring TV tuner cards also include RCA ports. If you wish to connect a Wii to your computer, the process is simple.

Things You'll Need

  • PC with TV tuner card and sound card
  • Headphone Y-connector
  • Descaling software (DeScaler 4, etc.)

Instructions

    • 1

Place your Wii's sensor bar on top of your computer monitor. Connect the sensor bar's wire to the port on the back of your Wii.

    • 2

Connect the Wii end of the Wii RCA cables to the port on the back of your Wii console. Connect the yellow RCA end of this cable to the RCA port on your computer's TV tuner card.

    • 3

Connect the red and white ends of your Wii RCA cable to the RCA ports on your Y-connector. Connect the headphone end of this Y-connector to the headphone port on your computer's sound card.

    • 4

Open the descaling program on your computer. Set the video source on this program's main menu to "Composite." Then, go to the program's deinterlace menu and select the "Automatic Format Detect" option.

    • 5

Start the descaling program, and you should now see the visual signal from the Wii on your computer monitor.
