How to Setup Wii Wireless

Purchasing and setting up a brand new Nintendo Wii is a lot of fun. The Wii alone lets you play games and check out photos on your TV, but its wireless capabilities open up an extra set of features--like web browsing, social networking, and even streaming Netflix movies. Once your Wii is set up and you've gone through the initial configurations, you're ready to connect to the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the red-and-white power button at the top left of the Wii Remote to power on the console. Read and acknowledge all warnings to proceed to the main menu.

    • 2

Select the round Wii button ringed in blue at the bottom left of the main menu screen. Then click the large white box to the right that reads "Wii Settings" and contains a picture of a wrench. This will bring up the Wii's system settings menu.

    • 3

Use the Wii Remote to select the small white arrow to the right of the menu to scroll to the next page. Select the "Internet" button (third from the top) to open the Internet settings screen.

    • 4

Select the "Connection Settings" button at the top of the menu and then select "Connection 1." Select "Wireless Connection," then click on "Search for an Access Point." This will start a Wi-Fi search for all available connection points.

    • 5

Use the remote to select the "Ok" button when the screen prompts you to choose a connection. Select the connection that bears the name of your wireless router and proceed to enter any password information requested.

    • 6

Test the connection by accepting any further Wii prompts. Keep in mind that the connection test may take a few moments. Once the Wii confirms the strength of your wireless connection, simply press the home button on the remote and enjoy your new wireless Wii capabilities.
