Click the Wii shop channel on the Wii menu page. Click "Start" on the bottom-right corner to begin browsing channels. Wait for it to load.
Click the "Start Shopping" button at the bottom of the Wii shop channel main page.
Choose what type of application channel you'd like to create: virtual console, Wii ware or Wii channels. Most virtual console applications require a classic controller; select games require a remote turned sideways or GameCube controller. Wii ware games are playable with the Wii remote and Nunchuk. Wii channels are free downloads Nintendo offers its customers and only require the Wii remote. Click the type of application you're interested in downloading.
Select to search by popular titles, newest additions, publisher, genre, category or game title. Wii channels don't offer these options.
Scroll down with the remote using the arrows on the right of the screen and pressing the "A" button to see what application channels are available. Click the application channel you want to download and/or purchase.
Click the "download" or "free" box on the bottom-left corner of the details page. This box also contains how many Wii points are required to download the application channel.
Choose how you would like to save the application channel. Save it to the Wii system memory or SD card. If you save it to the SD card you'll have to make sure the SD card is in the console when you want to access the application channel.
Confirm your request to download. Under selection confirmation Nintendo informs you of the details the application requires like what type of controller you'll need to play. Click the "OK" box at the bottom-right corner of your screen when ready to confirm.
Confirm you have enough points and open blocks to download and save the application to the system memory or SD Card. If you don't have enough room you may need to delete some applications or purchase a new SD card to hold the files. If you have enough room confirm you want to download by clicking "Yes" in the bottom-left corner. Once the download is successful, click "OK."
Click the "Wii menu" box in the bottom-left corner of the Wii shop channel page to verify your new application channel is accessible on the Wii menu.
