Wii Audio Specs

Nintendo released the Wii video game console system in 2006. The Wii uses traditional analog audio for its output instead of digital audio, using a combined video and audio cable designed specifically for the console. The Wii also includes small speakers built into its Wii Remote controller.
  1. Wii Audio Specs

    • The Nintendo Wii features analog stereo audio that also incorporates Dolby Pro-Logic II technology. Dolby Pro-Logic II allows for simulated surround sound over stereo channels. Nintendo also used Dolby Pro-Logic II for its prior game console, the Nintendo Gamecube.

    Wii Audio Cable

    • RCA cable

The Nintendo Wii uses a proprietary audio cable that comes included with the system. It sells replacement cables separately. The cable plugs into the Wii and sends both video and audio to your stereo or television using an RCA (yellow, red and white-tipped) cable.

    Wii Remote Audio

    • The controllers used to play games on the Nintendo Wii include small speakers for additional sound while playing. The Wii Remote speakers may broadcast the crack of a bat during a baseball video game, for example.
