How to Set Up a Second Player for Classic Controller on Wii

The Nintendo Wii comes with a motion-sensing Wii Remote, which gamers use to play almost all games on the console. Virtual Console games, however, allow the use of the Classic Controller, and some games even require its use. The Classic Controller is an optional accessory that is modeled after a traditional Nintendo game pad. Some Virtual Console games accept two or more players. You can connect multiple Classic Controllers to the Wii, a process that requires only a few steps to complete.

Instructions

    • 1

Synchronize a second Wii Remote to the Wii console, if you have not yet done so. With the Wii turned on, tap the "Home" button on the first player's remote. Choose "Wii Remote Settings," and then "Reconnect." Hold down the "1" and "2" buttons on the second remote to complete its synchronization.

    • 2

Pull the Wii Remote's wrist strap cord through the connector hook.

    • 3

Insert the Classic Controller's cord into the extension connector on the bottom of the Wii Remote. The Classic Controller may now be used in two-player games.
