Wii Educational Video Games

While many video games focus on action and plot, multiple titles exist to educate players. The Wii, a video gaming console with interactive controllers made by Nintendo, features many of such games. The educational games for the Wii challenge players in different areas including verbal skills, general knowledge and mathematical abilities.
  1. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree

    • Nintendo created and released the educational game "Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree" exclusively for its Wii console in June 2007. Between one and eight players can compete in this game, which is rated suitable for gamers of all ages. The single-player version of the game lets players start school at a fictional college and make grades by solving different puzzles. In multiplayer mode, players can compete to solve puzzles more efficiently than one another.

    Smarty Pants

    • Electronic Arts released the educational title "Smarty Pants" only for the Nintendo Wii in November 2007. Rated acceptable for players of all ages, "Smarty Pants" was made by Planet Moon Studio. The game challenges players to compete in trivia competitions that are divided into multiple sections. Aside from being categorized, the trivia questions are also sometimes age specific so that everyone can enjoy the contest. Players can even make characters designed to look like themselves.

    My Word Coach

    • Ubisoft developed and published the educational video game "My Word Coach" for Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and iPhone in November 2007. A single-player title only, "My Word Coach" is rated appropriate for everyone. Created to help younger players learn words and better understand the English language, the game boasts multiple word minigames. The better a player performs, the higher he will advance in the rankings of "My Word Coach."

    Geometry Wars: Galaxies

    • Sierra released the mathematically themed educational game "Geometry Wars: Galaxies" for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS in November 2007. Created by Kuju Entertainment and Bizarre Creations, the game is rated playable for gamers of all ages. Players are challenged to find their way through different levels in a large ship. They must strike down opponents, but the only way to do this is to take the right paths using geometric ideas.
