How to Sync DS With the Wii

Because both the Wii and DS are developed and released by Nintendo, the two consoles can sync together to share information. Even without having any games, the Wii can send demos to a Nintendo DS through the Nintendo Channel, a free download for the Wii. After you download the Nintendo Channel to your home console, you can pick and choose additional content to send to your handheld DS device. The consoles connect wirelessly, so no additional cables are required for the sync process.

Instructions

  Highlight "Wii Shop Channel" on the main Wii menu. Press "A" on your Wii remote. Move your cursor to "Start," and press "A."

  Move the cursor to "Start Shopping," and press "A." Highlight "Wii Channels" and press "A." Select "Nintendo Channel," and then select "Download."

  Press the "Home" button on your Wii remote to return to the Wii menu after the download has completed. Highlight the "Nintendo Channel" and press "A."

  Highlight the "DS Download Service" icon near the bottom of your screen. The icon is the third from the left, and resembles two rectangles stacked on one another.

  Scroll through the list of downloadable content for the DS. Highlight the item you wish to sync to the handheld console, and press "A." The Wii will prepare the file and begin transmission.

  Power on your Nintendo DS console without a game inserted into it. Tap "DS Download Play" from the main menu of the DS.

  Tap the name of the file you wish to receive from the Wii. The file will be listed on the bottom screen of the DS. Press "A" on the DS to confirm the download. The content will load after it has downloaded.

  Power off your Nintendo DS to break the connection with the Wii.

  Highlight the "Return" icon on the bottom left of your television screen and press "A" on the Wii remote to return to the Nintendo Channel menu.
