How to Clear Storage on a Wii

Although the Nintendo Wii is most commonly used to play video games from discs, gamers can also use the system to download games from the Internet. These downloadable games are stored in the Wii's internal memory space. This storage space, however, is also used to store other media, game saves and channels. Storing all of this data can quickly fill up the Wii's internal memory space, so gamers must sometimes clear existing data in order to make room for new data.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "Wii" menu, which is located in the lower-left-hand corner of the Wii's main system menu.

    • 2

      Select "Data Management."

    • 3

Click either "Save Data" to display all of the save data stored on the Wii, or "Wii Channels" to display all of the Wii channels on the system. Both save data and Wii channels take up memory space, so they are both useful items to delete.

    • 4

Pick the data that you want to delete and use the "Erase" button to remove it. Continue to delete more items until you clear as much storage space as you need.
