Turn off the Wii and unplug all cables. Remove the memory card and the game controller from its slot in the game console.
Place a bath towel on a table. Place the Wii face down on the bath towel with the ventilation grill facing you. Remove the screw from the battery compartment facing you with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the battery compartment lid. Remove the battery tray from inside of the battery compartment.
Pull the rubber foot next to the battery compartment off with your fingers. Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver beneath one of the plastic tabs facing you. Lift up on the tip to loosen the plastic tab. Pull the plastic tab off with your fingers. Repeat this with the other two plastic tabs facing you.
Remove the screw from beneath the rubber foot with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the screws from beneath the plastic tabs with the Torx screwdriver.
Place the Wii on its right side so that the rubber feet are facing to the left and the faceplate is facing towards you. Pull the rubber feet off with your fingers.
Insert the tip of the flat-edged screwdriver beneath one of the two plastic tabs facing to the left. Lift up on the tip to loosen the plastic tab. Pull the plastic tab off with your fingers. Repeat this with the other plastic tab facing you. Remove the screws beneath the rubber feet and tabs with the Torx screwdriver.
Remove the two black screws on the faceplate with the Torx screwdriver. Place the Wii right side up on the bath towel. Remove the two plastic socket covers from the side of the Wii with your fingers.
Remove the three black screws from the top left, right and middle edges of the open compartment containing the two plastic socket covers using the Phillips screwdriver.
Carefully pull the faceplate off the front of the Wii with your fingers. Disconnect the red and black plug from the faceplate using your fingers. Place the faceplate aside.
Remove the black metal plate from inside of the open compartment containing the two plastic socket covers using your fingers.
Remove the two exposed silver screws with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the two dull-colored screws with the Torx screwdriver.
Place the Wii on its left side so that the Nintendo logo is facing you. Gently pull the right side cover off with your fingers.
Remove the two screws in the center of the metal plate that is now exposed with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver. Remove the two screws near the front edge of the metal plate with the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
Lift the metal plate out and up. Disconnect the black plug attached to the DVD drive on the backside of the metal plate with your fingers. Lift up on the brown latch on the DVD drive near the black plug connector with your fingers. Pull the ribbon connector out of the back of the DVD drive with your fingers. Place the metal plate aside.
