How to Connect Your Wii to a DD-WRT

The original software on the Nintendo Wii had problems connecting to routers using DD-WRT firmware. Nintendo has since fixed the problem with the router. In order to connect to a DD-WRT firmware router, you need to make sure your Wii system firmware is up to date and then run the network connection wizard like you would for any other router. Once you connect to the network, you can play your Wii games online against other players.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your Wii to your Internet network using an Ethernet cable.

    • 2

Turn on the Wii and go to "Wii" on the bottom left corner of the screen, then "Wii Settings." Click the right arrow twice. Select "Wii System Update."

    • 3

Select "Yes" then "I Accept." The Wii then installs any updates.

    • 4

Click the left arrow and then select "Internet."

    • 5

Choose a connection that does not already have settings.

    • 6

Click "Wireless Connection" then "Search for Access Point."

    • 7

Click "OK" then select your wireless router. Enter your security key for your router.

    • 8

Select "OK" >"Save Settings" > "Yes."
