Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clean the disc to eliminate the possibility the disc isn't playing well because it's dirty. Wipe your disc with a soft, clean cloth made from cotton. Stroke the shiny side of your disc gently and in straight lines, never circular, going from the center of the disc outward.
Wet your cloth with a small amount of water and use the same wiping method for harder to remove smudges. Dry your disc with a non-wetted part of your cloth, again using straight strokes and moving from the inside of the disc to the outside rim.
Wait at least two minutes, as per the Nintendo website, before trying your game in the Wii.
Two Last-Resort Methods
Apply a small amount of toothpaste to your Wii game's mirrored side. Polish it with another cotton cloth, using straight strokes going from the inside rim to the outside. Gently buff over large scratches with circular motions, going from the inside of the disc toward the outside rim.
Apply a dab of metal polish to a clean cotton cloth and rub onto the disc for five minutes using straight strokes. Metal polish works by removing the top layer off the disc, creating a smoother surface for easier playing; obviously, this could damage a Wii disc so only use this method as your very last resort.
Wash the disc with soap and water after either method and allow it to dry for at least two minutes.
