My Wii Won't Read Mario Kart

As video games have evolved, discs have become the prominent source of holding game data. One of the flaws in this method is the frequency at which game systems won't read the disc. The Wii is no exception to this, and it can be frustrating when all you want do is play a round of Mario Kart. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to resolve the issue of your Wii not reading your game discs.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that you are inserting the disc correctly into the Wii. If your console is upright, the label of the disc should be facing to your right upon placing it in the system. If your console is horizontal, the label should be facing up.

    • 2

Check your game disc. Any scratches or smudges on the game disc may keep it from being read by your Wii. Use a soft cloth to clean the game disc, and try again.

    • 3

Test the Wii with a different game disc, preferably one that is free of scratches or smudges. If your Wii continues to have problems reading different discs, your problem lies with the Wii.

    • 4

Reposition your Wii. If it is facing upright, lay it horizontal and test the discs again. If it is horizontal, do the opposite.

Contact Nintendo if your Wii still has difficulty reading discs, as the problem may be with the hardware.
