How to Share Broadband to the Wii

The Nintendo Wii is a home gaming console released in 2008. It was an innovative attempt at changing the face of video gaming, featuring specialized motion-sensing controllers that required the player to pantomime the actions of her in-game hero. Another important feature of the Wii console is its ability to wirelessly connect to any active Internet connection. Utilizing a broadband wireless connection, the Wii allows users to download games and new content, play online, and check news and weather updates. Connecting the Wii to your broadband Internet connection should take about 10 minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on your Wii and select "Wii Menu" from the bottom left corner of the Wii menu.

    • 2

Select "Wii Settings," then select "Internet" from the second page of displayed options.

    • 3

Select "Connection 1" and choose "Wireless Connection." Note that in order to use a wired connection, you need a special USB dongle sold by Nintendo.

    • 4

Select "Search for an Access Point" to automatically scan for nearby active Internet connections. When the scan is complete, a list of all nearby wireless connections is displayed. Choose your wireless network from this list.

    • 5

Enter any necessary connection or security settings when prompted, then click "OK." Select "Save Settings" to bind these wireless settings to your Wii console. You should now be able to use your Wii for online gaming and downloads.
