Instructions
Check the batteries in the Wii Remote to see if their charge is depleted and to make sure they are oriented correctly in the battery compartment. Replace the batteries and see if the Wii Remote will now work.
Synchronize the Wii Remote with the Wii console if you haven't already done so. Press the red sync button located beside the batteries in the Wii Remote, and then press the same red button on the Wii console. This is located inside the SD card slot. The lights on the Wii Remote should blink, and then stop. One light will remain lit to show the controller's player number.
Make sure there are no obstructions between the Wii Remote and the Wii sensor bar or between the Wii Remote and the console. Check the sensor bar's placement. It should sit on top of the TV or at the base of the TV. The sensor bar should be placed as far to the front of the surface on which it sits for the best signal input.
Move your television away from windows. Bright light sources near or behind the TV can interfere with the proper operation of the Wii Remote and sensor bar. You should also avoid placing sources of infrared light in the immediate area. These can include candles, flames from a fireplace and other heat sources.
