My Wii Won't Read Discs

With features such as playback capability, motion sensor remote controls and Wi-Fi internet built in for online gaming, the Wii is a console targeted toward a wide variety of age groups and not just teenage game fanatics. But it does have some flaws and glitches.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the power of your Wii to make sure that the console is powered. The Wii needs to be properly connected to an outlet and all the cables need to be tightly fitted.

    • 2

Reset your Wii console by pressing the "Power" button twice. This will fix any minor connecting or electrical problems that may occur.

    • 3

Remove any built in dust that may surround the disc insert area on your Wii. Dirt build-up may cause your console to malfunction.

    • 4

Insert another Wii game into the console to see if it will play. If it does, then the unread game may be defective. If the Wii cannot read either disc, then it may be a problem with the Wii.

    • 5

Use a disc cleaning kit to clean your game disc that the Wii cannot read. The disc may be defective and thus cannot be read by the console. Note that major scratches or dents can also contribute to this problem.

Contact Nintendo's customer service to get help with the problem if all else fails. It should offer to repair your console if you send it in or even replace it if you still have the warranty.
