My Wii Won't Play Mario Kart

If you are experiencing problems when attempting to play a disc on the Nintendo Wii, you can perform a series of tasks to remedy the issue. If these are unsuccessful, then the disc, or even the console itself, may have to be returned to Nintendo for repair, as the hardware or software itself may be damaged.

Instructions

  1. Cleaning a Disc

    • 1

Wet a plain cloth, without soaking it, and leave a portion of it dry. Smudges caused when handling the disc can build up and prevent the console from reading the disc, and it is important to remove them as delicately as possible.

    • 2

Wipe, using the the damp side of the cloth, the silver side of the disc. Use straight strokes only.

    • 3

Dry the disc using the dry side of the cloth, again using only straight strokes.

    • 4

Examine the disc, checking to see that any visible dirt has been removed. If not, repeat this process. If the disc looks clean, try to play it in your console again.

    Check for Damage

    • 5

Examine the silver side of your disc carefully. In particular, notice scratches and cracks.

    • 6

Call Nintendo. If your game is not repairable, your only option is a replacement. Assuming your game is less than 90 days old, and you have proof of purchase, Nintendo will likely replace your game.

    • 7

Try your game again if you can't see any damage. If your game is still not playing, or you are receiving error messages, it is possible that your console is damaged. Again, contact Nintendo for further information on possible refunds or repairs.
