What Are the Empty Spaces on the Wii Menu For?

Each channel, be it for games, photos or the Internet, takes up one space each on the Wii menu. You are not limited to just the channels you see, which is where the empty spaces on the Wii menu come into play.
  1. Function

    • The empty spaces can house any additional channels downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel. These channels include virtual console games, demos and activity channels like the "News Channel."

    Layout

    • There are a total of 48 spaces on the Wii menu that can house channels. These spaces are divided into four different screens with 12 spaces per screen.

    Navigation

    • Press "+" and "-" on the Wii Remote to scroll through the different screens. To pick up a Wii Channel, point at a channel and hold "A" and "B" down to pick it up. Drag it to an empty space and release the buttons to drop the channel.

    Adding Channels

    • A list of available channels can be by browsing the "Wii Shop Channel." Any downloaded content will appear in the first open space on the Wii Menu.

    Deleting

    • If you need to clear a space, channels can be deleted through the "Data Management" option in the left corner of the menu. You can only delete channels you download, not channels that were preloaded such as the "Mii Channel."
