How to Reset Wii Updates

The Nintendo Wii, much like any other seventh-generation home gaming console, comes with an internal hard drive that's used to store game save files, full downloaded games, and system updates. If you wish to delete these updates from your Wii, you will need to restore your Wii to factory settings by formatting your console's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Wii and select the "Wii Shop Channel" option in the upper right corner of the main menu.

    • 2

Select the "Settings" option in your Wii Shop Channel menu, then select the "Remove Wii Shop Channel Account" option to erase your shop channel information.

    • 3

Return to the main menu and select the "Wii" icon in the lower left corner of the menu. This will open the system menu.

    • 4

Select the "Wii Settings" option in the system menu to open the settings menu.

    • 5

Select the "Format Wii System Memory" option in the settings menu, then enter your Security PIN (if you have one). Select the "Format" option to erase your Wii's system updates.
