How to Fix a Nintendo Wii Game Lens

The Nintendo Wii is a gaming console that uses discs to play games. Over time, the discs can acquire dust and grease that clogs up the Wii lens. If the lens gets too dirty, you will not be able to play any discs on the console. When this happens, you need to clean the Wii lens with a special cleaner that does not damage the parts inside. Water can short-circuit the console, so the solution uses rubbing alcohol in the formula instead.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the Wii and remove the disc from the drive (if there is one inside).

    • 2

Place three drops of the lens cleaner onto the white box located on the lens cleaner pad.

    • 3

Insert the disc with the pad on it into the Wii disc drive. Line up the blue lines on the disc so they are parallel to the slot. The top of the cleaning pad should face to the right when you insert it. Let the lens cleaner sit for five seconds to wet the Wii lens.

    • 4

Wiggle the lens cleaner handle from side to side 20 times. Do not raise the handle more than 3/4 inch.

    • 5

Bring the lens cleaner handle back to the center of the disc drive.

    • 6

Hold down the "Eject" button on the Wii to push out the lens cleaner.
